On Sept. 13, 2023, the Lake Dallas Community Development Corporation accepted my offer to purchase and completely renovate and re-imagine the building located at 303 Alamo Avenue, right across the street from the Lake Dallas Bungalows and the Lake Dallas Fire Station.
Old timers will remember this building as the Lake Dallas City Hall and Lake Dallas Police Department. Younger folks will remember this space as the Boys and Girls Club.
The police department, and especially its' one cell jail, was used in the movie "Painted Pony" that starred singer Dwight Yoakum.
The building has been empty for years.
The building will be completely renovated with new facades to house four small businesses that could include restaurants, retail, office or other commercial uses.
The Austin stone facade shown in the rendition is stone reclaimed from a house that was used as the Town of Hickory Creek's City Hall in the 1980s and 1990s. It was demolished to make room for an expanded I-35E.
Many thanks to the Lake Dallas Community Development Corporation and City Manager Kandace Lesley for their work on this project. Thanks to Lewis Gonzales for his renditions. Thanks to Harmony Bank in Garland for providing financing.
If you or someone you know is looking for a commercial space, please let them know. We currently have spaces as small as a one-person office up to 1,800 square feet, all in the Lake Dallas Downtown District.
